Three weeks to go!

37 weeks

We all went to the OB today as we were having our growth ultrasound to see how big the baby might be and to check her position. The doctor estimates she’s about 5 pounds and healthy. The baby was already working her diaphragm getting ready for breathing. The doctor did say she’d like the baby to gain a bit more weight prior to her big debut. So my assignment is to EAT EAT EAT. I insisted that a 5 pound baby would be absolutely fine with me as long as she was healthy, but the doctor pointed out that small babies like to be fed every hour and don’t sleep as well as larger babies, so FINE- she wins, I’ll eat and eat and eat. The doctor also said that she does not expect the baby to show up early. I have had a few contractions, but nothing painful or serious.

I need to have my thyroid re-checked tomorrow morning just to make sure my dosage is correct. I continue to go to yoga once a week and walk just about everyday with Maisy.

I’m not sleeping as well as I have been, so I’m pretty tired. I feel the baby has moved down and it makes laying down pretty uncomfortable. Here is a n belly shot at 36 weeks. If you compare to the 37 week picture above, I think she’s a bit lower now.

36 Weeks

The doctor’s recommendation was good timing, because last night out of the blue I decided to bake a cake that Todd can’t eat (eggs), so Maisy and I have been doing our best to eat it. Anyone want cake!?

Our next visit with the doctor is Aug. 23 in two weeks.

So we are on letter X today. We are very close to finishing the alphabet. I suppose we’ll work on numbers next. I keep waiting for her to be disinterested- because honestly a break would be nice, but she really looks forward to it! She loves the learning.

I was treated to a wonderful night out with great girlfriends this last Saturday night. It was so fun to get out and just talk and catch up with friends!!! They were super sweet and they all got together and pitched in to get us 2 meals prepared and delivered right to our door after the baby is born!!! I couldn’t imagine a better treat. Thank you to Andrea, Marissa, Abby, Alison, Kim and Angie! I am really so lucky to have such thoughtful, supportive and fun girls in my life :-)

Water games

That face just melts my heart…

My make up prenatal appointment was scheduled for today, but my doctor was sick, so she cancelled on me. I’m now rescheduled for Monday, May 10. So we had some free time today.

I got Maisy a little beach chair that someone was giving away and she likes it very much. She carried it all around the yard.

Crawling in and out of her chair

After playing in the yard we went inside to play a little game called pour water from one container into the other. She thought it was the best game ever!

Happily pouring

WATER!

Then we played a quick game of will it float or will it sink? The upside to this is that now this particular portion of my kitchen floor is spotlessly clean!

Will it float or not, oh who cares? Let’s drink the water!

Here is an updated picture of me today at 23 weeks. Maisy is adorable with the baby. She asks to see my belly and will talk to the baby, tickle my belly, try to look through my belly button to see the baby, she also hugs and tells the baby how much she loves her. It’s just so sweet. We will have to be sure to get a video and post it.

23 Weeks

We are very excited to have gotten rid of the extra furniture in the guest room- soon to be Maisy’s big-girl room. We will spend the weekend getting all of the rest of the stuff put into the attic and then we’ll move on to getting the room painted.

Flower girl

Gathering flowers in a basket

Today is a beautiful and warm day. After our walk to the grocery store, Maisy picked up a flower and asked, “Who is that?”- It means what is this? She was pointing to the inside of the flower and I got the idea to do a little flower lesson today. So we started out taking a walk and collecting lots of flowers to examine and learn about.

Looking for flowers

What we found

After we came home, we checked the flowers out and divided up all the parts. Petals for attracting bees and butterflies (who help to pollinate the flower), Stigmas/Pistils for catching pollen, Anthers/Stamens for making pollen and the Stems for supporting the flower. Then we placed them in the proper squares on the paper and taped them down. I found a large flower diagram online and printed it out for coloring. Maisy enjoyed coloring in all of the parts- and picking apart the flowers.

Coloring and learning about flowers

Proud girl

After all that learning it was time for a nap to recharge!

Finished product

Maisy continues to do well with potty training. She tells us when she has to go and she wears panties all day, even when we are out and about. I bring her potty and just make sure she goes about every 45 minutes or so and that seems to work for us. She has had no accidents in over a week! She still is wearing diapers for nap and bed time. But it’s great we are down to only 2 new diapers a day!! :-)

Here is a picture of me taken yesterday at 21 weeks. We asked Maisy the other day what we should name the baby and she said, “Cracker”. We asked why and she said, “Baby is tasty.” I’m pretty sure we’ll get a second opinion on that Cracker name!
